TEAM
SCOTT W. NEWMAN
Scott began his Bay Area commercial real-estate career in 1982 with Coldwell Banker (now CB Richard Ellis). During his sixteen-year tenure with the firm Scott was involved in over 200 sale and lease transactions totaling in excess of three million square feet and sold more than 110 acres of unimproved land. This transaction volume represented approximately 30% of the growth in his market area over the same 16-year period. Ultimately, Scott’s professional practice evolved into a focus on counseling high-growth companies on the real-estate component of their growth strategies. His clients included: GE Capital; Chiron Corporation; Ascend Communications; Sampoerna Holdings, USA; Del Monte Corporation and Prudential.
In 1998, he joined with Steve Meckfessel to pursue their shared vision of meaningfully participating in the growth that was reshaping the East Bay commercial real-estate landscape. During their ten-year association, Scott, Steve and their partners entitled, developed/redeveloped or acquired over 4.1 million square feet of commercial property, shared their commercial real estate perspective with numerous corporate users in a consulting capacity, and acquired a portfolio of “legacy” properties which they anticipate owning and managing on a long-term basis.
In 2009, Scott founded Beacon Group Ventures. Through Beacon Group Ventures, he and his partners pursue their passion for the development, ownership and management of commercial real estate on behalf of institutional investors, private investors, corporate users and their own account.
The Beacon Group Ventures Operating Company is a closely held private company that pledges the judgment, experience, reputation and personal efforts of the principal and partners of the firm to promote the interest of their clients. They believe that in order to outperform in their competitive marketplace, a firm must be able to draw upon the first-hand knowledge and relationships that come with many years of active participation in a defined geographic area.
Beacon Group Ventures strives to maintain its reputation as a best-of-class boutique operating company through their daily personal achievements.
Scott earned his B.A. in economics and psychology from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and presently lives with his wife and their three children in Lafayette, CA. Scott is a licensed commercial/instrument-rated pilot and his other interests include supporting his children’s activities, skiing, and home winemaking.
